Moving to Coral Gables as a Mom. What I Didn’t Expect (and Now Can’t Unsee)

We didn’t move to Miami for Miami.

We moved because we wanted my life to feel different.

Coming from Alpharetta, Georgia, life had a rhythm we knew, structured, full, familiar. And we loved that in many ways.

But there was always something in me pulling toward a softer way of living…something lighter, more intentional, a little more European in the way life unfolds.

I’ve always been drawn to Mediterranean living. The tones, the architecture, the way spaces feel lived in not staged.

And somehow, Coral Gables carries that energy in a way that feels quiet and real.

At first, I noticed what everyone notices.

The homes.

The trees.

The charm.

But what stayed with me wasn’t any of that.

It was the shift in how my days felt.

One of the biggest changes for us and something I don’t take lightly, is how we chose to live here.

Henry and I moved to downtown Coral Gables because our real estate office is literally two minutes away.

And coming from Atlanta… that alone changed everything.

We were used to long commutes.Planning our days around traffic.Losing hours in the car without even realizing it.

I didn’t realize how much of my life was being shaped by traffic… until it wasn’t anymore.

Here, we can walk to the office.

And I can step out for a showing, stop by the office, or handle what I need to and be back home so quickly it doesn’t disrupt my life.

And working mainly in the Grove and the Gables, this location has given us something I didn’t have before:

Balance.

The kind where I can fully show up for my work…and still be present for my life.

And that, to me, is priceless.

Our days don’t feel rigid.

They feel intentional.

Some days we’re home, focused and quiet.

Other days, out in little charming spots.

Walking through beautiful streets and talking about architecture without it feeling like a lesson.

Stopping somewhere simple and just observing.

Or spending an afternoon at The Shops at Merrick Park, where everything feels open, calm, and easy.

or Stoping by Books & Books to find new reads, or work for a bit while drinking a Coffee.

There are also places here that feel like little experiences.

Venetian Pool is one of them. Definitely a must visit destinations if you and or your kids love swiming.

And it’s those kinds of moments that make childhood feel special, without needing to overcomplicate it.

What I’ve realized is that this city naturally encourages a different kind of rhythm, the energy is truly spectacular.

More time outside.

More appreciation for beauty.

More presence in the everyday.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not about doing more with your kids…

It’s about actually being present for the moments you already have.

There’s also a sense of calm here that’s hard to explain until you live it.

You’re not constantly navigating chaos.

You’re not rushing through every part of your day.

You move differently.

And that changes more than people expect.

And then there’s the part of me that will always think like a designer… and now, like someone in real estate too.

Because beyond how it feels, there’s something else here:

Stability.

Coral Gables has a very clear identity.

The architecture is protected.

The city is intentional.

And that combination tends to hold value in a way that goes beyond trends.

So when I look at homes here, I’m not just thinking:

“Is this beautiful?”

I’m thinking:

Does this support the life someone is trying to build?

Will this still feel right years from now?

That’s what led me to create Casa Le Blanc.

Not just as a real estate brand, but as a more thoughtful way to approach finding a home.

One that considers not just the property…but the life you’re building inside of it.

And if you’re reading this, maybe you’re in that space too.

Thinking about a change.

A move.

Or just wanting your life to feel a little different.

Coral Gables isn’t just a beautiful place.

It’s the kind of place that quietly changes your standards for how life should feel.

And once you experience that…

it’s hard to go back.

And if you ever want to explore it in a real, honest way.

You can always find me here, or through Casa Le Blanc.

No pressure. Just a conversation 🤍

With love xx

Sasha
